The Savills Blog

This September, Managing Director of Savills Vietnam – Mr. Neil MacGregor, was among near 40 cyclists to complete a gruelling 500km triple-century over three days through the mountains of central Vietnam.

His team of four, the "Huffers & Puffers" (with a combined age of over 50), huffed and puffed through heart stopping inclines to raise money for Newborns Vietnam – a UK registered charity focusing on the reduction of infant mortality in South East Asia and Vietnam in particular.

“There was certainly much huffing and puffing as we tackled hills with gradients that we had only ever seen in the likes of the Tour de France. A mammoth challenge and well worth the training.”

Nostalgic from his journey, Neil commented that:

"It was incredible to revisit the hospital that I had been to nearly two years ago and see the remarkable changes.

The contrast was amazing, with confident nurses proudly showing us the facilities and telling us about their achievements.

With the training support and equipment provided by Newborns Vietnam, the Danang Hospital reduced the newborn mortality rate by 50% compared to the Vietnam average. Quite an achievement in such a short period of time and a testament to the great work that this charity is doing.

The aim is to now expand this work to other provinces in Vietnam."
